Internet bandits have a plethora of lures at their disposal. Every single day I am contacted by someone who is being “phished” by an internet bandit. Just a few minutes ago, I received yet another phishing email. Let me highlight just a few signs to look for when you are being phished.
Finally, when in doubt…just DELETE the email.
1. An unexpected email which contains attachments or links asking you to login to an online account.
2. Poor grammar/misspelled words or sentences which do not make sense.
3. A false association to a trusted entity.
4. An email address not matching the focal point of the message.
5. Misinformation in the email (toll free and yet not a toll free number).
6. An email for products/services you don’t even use.
